Christmas Cards

In 2010 I designed my first Christmas card in Gimp, a bitmap program.

Boobook and Hakea Laurina

This year 2011 I've learned how to use Inkscape, a vector program.

Silvereye and Grevillea Robyn Gordon

For both cards I've used the plants and birds in my garden as my models.
Merry Christmas everybody.

The Next Step

After I'd done all that work, and more which ended up in the rubbish bin, I started wondering how I could have it printed on to fabric.
That's when I came across Spoonflower. They are in the United States and I'm here in Australia, each of us just sitting behind our computers.
But look at the results, blooming marvelous.

A New Beginning

I graduated in Fine Arts from Lisbon University in 1975.
This is all new to me as I didn't grow up with computers. In  January 2010 I came across a book online, called Gimp for Textile Design by Frederick L. Chipkin.

I bought it there and then, and after it arrived in the post I just sat at my computer every day and practiced the lessons again and again.
This wonderful book opened a new door for me. I discovered computer generated Art.

This little rooster is my first ever attempt at drawing in Gimp. It is a little bit crude, but then I only had the mouse as a tool.
